Today, one student from each grade level received a gift certificate for Snyder’s upcoming spring book fair. Students were randomly selected (from hundreds of entries!) for their participation in last week’s Read Across America spirit week. A big thank you to all the students, teachers, and staff that joined in on the fun and an extra special thank you to Snyder’s awesome PTG for supporting the event!

We continue to get to know our staff in 2025 by getting to know our secretary to the high school principal and the athletic director, Mrs. Karissa Laughlin. We asked her to tell us a little about herself: “Some of my favorite hobbies are attending my kids sporting events and relaxing outside with a book.” “Something my students might not know about me is that I have 2 children, ages 11 and 10 years old.” “I chose to work at the high school because I've dreamed of working in a school setting. Previously I attended college to become an elementary teacher, but switched majors.” “My favorite thing about SASD is that I love, love, love the small community where everybody is somebody. Sayre is a district where good manners and big hearts go hand in hand which makes it an honor to call myself part of the Sayre family.” We are so thankful for Mrs. Laughlin and the many hats she wears for our school. She is a valued member of the Sayre family and we are happy she can testify to the culture we have worked hard to create as the little school with the big heart. Thank you Mrs. Laughlin.

Officer Spencer donated some time in Kindergarten this week. He brought in a funny story to read to us for Read Across America. He also found out that some of his littlest friends want to be just like him when they grow up!

Along with Officer Spencer's read aloud the kids did a guessing game. They were asked a bunch of questions that they had to answer according to how they think Officer Spencer would answer. The school officers dream car would be: Most answered police car. One thought he would really love a gold Subaru. 4. The school officers favorite pet is: Fire dog. 5. When my school officer was my age, I think he wanted to grow up to be: a women police officer! 6. I think my school resource officers favorite thing about school is: us,the kids. 7. I think if my school resource officer could have a superpower it would be: saving kids. 8. I think the person my school officer looks up to the most is: God and his dad.
